The alpincenter in figures & facts
The construction
In 2006, the indoor ski centre, including the hotel, was built in just 8 months. A total of 6,500 tonnes of steel and 30,000 tonnes of concrete were used.
The transport
A 4-seater chairlift, which can transport up to 2,500 people per hour, takes our winter sports enthusiasts to the "summit". At peak times, a drag lift is added, which can transport up to 1,900 people per hour. On a rope tow lift, our youngest guests can pull themselves up to the upper section of the beginner's slope.
The snow
In our indoor ski centre, 15 snow cannons (Innovag AG) provide fresh snow. It contains no chemical additives whatsoever and is therefore not considered artificial snow. The slopes are prepared at night with the help of the Kässbohrer "PistenBully 400".
The cold
A total of 54 recirculating air cooling units in the indoor ski centre and 5 refrigeration machines from GEA Grasso ensure an average indoor temperature of -1.5°C. In addition, there are 30 km of cooling hoses. Instead of ammonia, Tyfocor (glycol) is used for cooling. The neighbouring biogas plant supplies the heat required for the entire building. The indoor ski centre is supplied with electricity via 200 km of power cables.
